Do You Need to Renew Your Barber License?

Remember, you do not have to renew your barber license if:

You are 65 years old or older
You are renewing your license for the first time
You have been licensed for 30+ years

If you want to continue working as a barber in Ohio, you’ll need to renew your license every other year.

How to Register for Barber CE

Joining our continued education course is easy!

Complete your training and receive an emailed certificate of completion.

This course is only offered to licensed barbers. Interested in becoming a barber? Check out our comprehensive 1800-hour barbering program, which can teach you old-school barbering techniques and help prepare you to sit for the state licensing exam. Stay on Track for Your Barber’s License Renewal

Ohio requires you to renew your barber license every two years, by August 31st of each odd-numbered year. To renew your license, you must complete four hours of continued education from an approved provider, which includes:

3 hours of safety and infection control training (available from LaBarberia Institute of Hair online and in-person)
1 hour of Board Rules and Law (available from Ohio State Cosmetology and Barber Board)

Once you’ve completed your three hours of CE with LaBarberia Institute of Hair, we’ll report them to the State Board within three business days. You’ll also receive a certificate of completion.

How much is the barber CE training?

Our online and in-person CE training for barbers is $55. This cost is non-refundable, and all payments are final. You can make a payment online or by contacting our admissions team.

What does the CE training cover?

Our three hours of CE training covers infection control principles and practices. It’s essential training for keeping the barber shop environment safe for clients and barbers.
