Our Facility

Our training facility is conveniently located in Cleveland’s bustling Mayfield Heights Golden Gate shopping center. We’ve been here since 2015, adding more than 3,000 square feet of classroom and clinic space, including 18 barber stations in 2018. The following year, we added another 5,000 square feet of classroom and clinic space, including 14 esthetic stations and three classrooms.

Our spacious facility provides students the opportunity to learn by doing and watching. There is ample parking for students, instructors, staff, and visitors, and over 25 shopping and dining options are within walking distance.

The courses at LaBaberia can be demanding, but we truly believe that you get out of our courses what you put into them. Who We Are

We’ve been helping aspiring barbers launch their careers since 2009. LaBarberia Institute of Hair has created a diverse learning environment where students can develop their skills and nurture their creativity under the guidance of supportive teachers. We’re inspired by “old school” barbering and the beauty industry, so students have an opportunity to develop classic barbering skills while learning how to deliver exceptional customer service.

We want to help build up a new generation of entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, and micropreneurs in the barbering and esthetic professions. Our goal is to reshape the industry with an advanced curriculum in an environment focusing on diversity and inclusion. All are welcome here.

Our History

Laura Clemente, a barber since 1983 and business owner since 1989, was always inspired by the diligence of “old school” barbers and the beauty industry. That inspiration prompted her vision of opening a barber school one day that would overcome mediocrity and cater wholly to the student, the client, and the community.

That vision was realized in 2009 when the LaBarberia Institute of Hair was founded. Laura now works to ensure that her Institute continuously and consistently provides opportunities that enrich lives, inspiring others to thrive, serve, and excel.

Today, the Institute is a professional school committed to excellence in career training. Here, students experience top-quality education and expert job training in practice on live models. They are guided by skilled instructors who collectively have decades of experience as licensed barber stylists and estheticians in Ohio.

LaBarberia Institute of Hair offers a comprehensive barber program that teaches clipper and shear techniques, razor shaving, facial hair styling, chemical treatments, and more. We also offer an Advanced Esthetics training program, including skincare, hair removal, brow & lash enhancements, and makeup application. LaBarberia Institute of Hair also provides continuing education courses and specialized certifications, including esthetics for oncology patients. Yes, financial aid is available for those who qualify and are enrolled in our 1800-hour barber program or 750-hour esthetics program. Our financial aid team can help you explore options such as Pell Grants, Federal Student Loans, private scholarships, and more. We also offer convenient payment plans that can help you spread out the cost of your education.
