What You’ll Need to Enroll

The following items are required for submission to the LaBarberia Institute of Hair and/or Ohio State Cosmetology and Barber Board:

Driver’s License or a Picture State ID
Proof of high school completion
For 1800 and 1000 hour barber programs, a birth certificate is required
Tuition or payment plan in place
One current identical photo (head and shoulders only) no less than two and one-half inches by three- and one-half inches, no more than three inches by five inches and must be signed on the front by the applicant (LaBarberia Institute of Hair requirement)
Any name changes documentation/Marriage, Court Order, etc.

The institute does not accept ATB testing. Other documentation may be required, depending on your chosen course. The admissions team can provide a complete list of required documents. Get in touch with them with any questions you have about enrollment requirements.

Visit our campus. All prospective students are required to attend a school visit. This visit is a chance for you to see our facility in person, meet our instructors, and see if this is a place where you can thrive.
Attend a personal interview. We want to hear your story. You’ll meet with a member of our staff and share your goals for the future. We’ll help you determine if our course is the right step for your future.
Complete an enrollment form. Complete the form and return it to the admissions team with all your required documentation.

Once you’ve completed these steps, our admissions team will review your application for enrollment and contact you about the next steps. In the meantime, you can review your student catalog and start working on your financial aid plan.

Financial aid is available to those who qualify. Federal financial aid is only available for select programs at the school. Contact the financial aid department for more information.

FAQs About Admissions at LaBarberia Institute of Hair

How old do I have to be to enroll in LaBarberia Institute of Hair?

Prospective students must be at least 16 years old when enrolling. However, LaBarberia Institute of Hair requires proof of high school completion prior to enrollment. If you have questions about this, please contact the admissions team.

What if I don't have my high school diploma or GED?

If you don’t have your high school diploma or GED certificate, we can also accept your official secondary school transcript showing you completed your education or a state certification of home-school completion. If you attended secondary school in a foreign country, we can work with you to obtain confirmation that you have completed education up to the equivalent of a high school diploma. We do not accept ATB testing.

Do you accept transfer students?

We do accept transfer students. Transferring students must complete a Request for Transfer of Clock Hours application found on the Ohio State Cosmetology and Barber Board website. The board must approve the application.

Is financial aid available?

Yes, financial aid is available to those who qualify. We also offer payment plans. Make an appointment with our financial aid team to discuss your options.

What is the enrollment deadline?

There is no enrollment deadline! LaBarberia Institute of Hair is an open enrollment school, so you can start the process anytime. We have classes year-round, so you can start your training at the best time for you. Contact our admissions team to learn when courses will start next.
